About Us

Our Beginnings

Founded in 2001, the Triangle Alano Club emerged from a pressing need in our community. In 2000, after two Cary based groups lost their local meeting space in a restaurant after hours, a whole bunch of people got together to figure out how to start an Alano Club. We held weekly meetings, consulted with many people, and we learned from fellow AAs and AlAnons who had experience in clubs around the country. Our founding date is February 1, 2001, when we incorporated as a non-profit in North Carolina, joining hundreds of other Alano Clubs across the United States.

Our Mission

The mission of the Triangle Alano Club, Inc. (TAC) is to provide a safe, comfortable meeting place and social environment for recovering persons and their families in Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Alateen groups.

Operating Guidelines

The Bylaws are the rules by which we run the Triangle Alano Club. We maintain a focused approach, exclusively serving AA, Al-Anon and Alateen groups. One of our distinguishing features is our group-friendly rent policy - rather than fixed rates, groups contribute a percentage of their basket collections. This approach enables new groups to establish themselves without the burden of fixed overhead costs that might exceed their members' donations.
